St. Lawrence University lifts dorm mask mandate | WWTI

CANTON, NY (WWTI) – Some masking requirements have been lifted on the St. Lawrence University campus.

On February 14, St. Lawrence University Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs Karl Schonberg and Vice President and Dean of Student Life Hagi Bradley masking requirements lifted in residence for vaccinated students.

According to campus leaders, this decision was made in light of the low number of COVID-19 cases on SLU’s campus, St. Lawrence County’s transmission rates, and New York’s suspension of medical requirements. indoor masks for indoor businesses.

Masks will continue to be required in all other locations on campus, including classrooms and indoor public spaces. Free KN95 masks will continue to be available at the main office of the SLU Student Center.

Students and staff with approved vaccine exemptions were also required to continue to wear masks in all indoor settings, including residence halls.

However, Schonberg and Bradley said that if cases remain low and county transmission rates continue to decline, St. Lawrence University will continue to assess campus masking requirements in the coming weeks.

The operating condition of the St. Lawrence University campus was at low risk as of February 14. When the masking was announced, there were no active students Case of COVID-19 and one active employee case.
