Officials to end search efforts after condominium collapse

Florida officials said after two weeks of searching for victims, they would focus on recovery efforts after assessing that no survivors would be found.

It is with deep, deep sadness that this afternoon I can share that we have made the extremely difficult decision to move from search and rescue to recovery. It has now been exactly two weeks since the South Champlain Towers collapsed, and over the past 14 days you all know our search and rescue teams from our local community, across Florida, across the country and in fact the whole world have dug by this collapse. They used every possible strategy and every technology at their disposal. And thanks to these efforts, we have recovered eight more victims, so that the total number of confirmed deaths is now 54. 33 of these victims have been identified and 33 notifications to relatives have been made. At present, 200 people have been identified and 86 people are potentially missing. So please join me in praying for those we have lost and those we mourn.
