A landlord has filed plans to build 57 studio apartments on meager land in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood.

SIA Consultingbased in San Francisco, sponsored a proposal to build a nine-story building at 1010 Mission Street, SF Yimby reported. It would replace a 0.1 acre parking lot.

The 20,170 square foot building would be sandwiched between two existing mixed-use buildings and would face Mission and Jesse streets.

It would contain 57 one-room occupancy units, with indoor parking for 57 bicycles and four sidewalk bicycle slots. No parking would be provided for cars.

The ground floor would contain a 410 square foot community hall. Nearly 2,300 square feet of open space would be included on the ground floor and on the roof.

The project should require approvals. A construction schedule has not been announced.

The 80ft project resembles another proposal filed this month to squeeze a nine-story mixed-use apartment building and micro-hotel onto a 0.1-acre lot on Folsom Street in SoMa. The project would include 44 units and a basic two-bedroom hotel.
