New mural being painted on State Blvd. building
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – After months of preparation, artist Jake Patten was ready to begin his first mural.
The painter, who runs a studio and gallery in the Midwest, began the outline of his latest artwork late Monday evening.
Studio K of Hartzog Interiors, with a grant from the City of Fort Wayne, commissioned Jake for the vibrant artwork seen on a busy part of State Boulevard near Crescent Avenue.
The artist often works with large mediums, so the size of the mural was not the hardest part, but rather the surface.
“I paint large paintings 10 to 12 feet long. The only difference I would say is that corrugated steel makes it a bit more difficult, ”Jake told us. “A little different from a canvas but other than that the concepts are the same. These are still my fun and crazy childish paintings, but just on a larger scale.
He hopes the brightness and intricate makeup arouse feelings in those waiting at a red light on a busy commute.
“A character with tons of different characters and situations inside the painting,” he continued, “so people have to stop for a minute to figure it all out – and that’s what I think. that art is really everything Take into account what’s inside the painting.
Jake receives additional help from two trusted painters – his brothers.
He estimates that it will take another two weeks to complete.
